Stroll through an apple orchard on a crisp, casual fall morning. Sweet, tangy aromas float through your nostrils and inspire the warm and comforting memories of grandma’s spicy apple cider, or your family’s staple homemade pie slathered in melting vanilla ice cream. This recipe was made to conjure nostalgia, to recapture autumn’s cozy essence, and fill a hungry belly on a morning which demands a soft sweater and gentle music.


1 cup oats

1 cup unsweetened almond milk + 1/2 cup water

1/2 banana

1/2 golden delicious apple, chopped

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1 tsp vanilla extract

Optional nut butter and toppings

ASSEMBLY Chop apple into 1/2 inch slices. In a small saucepan, combine oats, almond milk + water, vanilla and cinnamon; stir well. Mash banana into saucepan and stir, then scrape sliced apples atop and fold into the mix. Turn oven to medium heat and allow liquid to come to a light boil, stirring frequently. Once the oats are warm enough, pour into a deep bowl and garnish with peanut butter/almond butter, banana slices, more apple, or whatever you think will befit the recipe.
